The purpose of Camp Pringle is to provide a retreat for music students where they can focus on learning music in an uninterrupted environment. Students must be inclusive and support each other throughout the retreat. Students will have a chance to work one on one with professional musicians, and the opportunity to work with two of Victoria’s greatest band and choral directors. Our hope is that all students will grow together through music, and make new friends in the process.
Accommodation: Students will be sleeping in one of two building. They are designed like dormitories. Students will need to bring sleeping bags, pillows, and warm clothing for sleeping.
Things to Bring: Instrument and Music, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Toiletries, Warm Clothing, Extra Socks
Dropping off, and picking up: Please make sure that your child has everything they need on Friday. The music room will be open, and all of your belongings should be dropped off first thing.
SCHEDULE
Friday (Nov 16)
11:15 am – Students meet in SIMS Music Room, ready to go
11:30 am – Buses Leave for the 12:20 Vesuvius ferry
3:30 pm – Arrive at Camp Pringle
Sunday (Nov 18)
1:45 pm – Students meet up, ready to leave
2:15 pm – Buses leave camp to catch the 4:45 Crofton ferry
5:30 pm – Pick your child up in Vesuvius. Parking will be tight, please carpool.
Retreat Cost
$150.00 per student: Please write cheques to Salt Spring Island Middle School. Please write “Music”
