Swing Shift Big Band is 17 piece community jazz/dance band on Saltspring Island BC. Swing Shift plays mostly swing music from the big band era but also plays a little latin, pop, funk and even a little modern jazz from time to time. The band plays 3-8 gigs a year on average. The band plays on Saltspring, Vancouver Island and beyond. The band welcomes new members when positions open up. We also need subs from to time. Swing Shift, its sister band, the Bandemonium Concert Band and the parent organization, the Bandemonium Music Society were founded in 1993 by Wendy and Derrick Milton. Over its 25 year history Swing Shift has benefited from the efforts of two other music directors, Murray Hunter and Monik Nordine. Bandemonium is a registered non-profit organization.
