On November 16 sixty SIMS choir and band students headed off to Camp Pringle on Shawnigan Lake for a two-day camp.
Dave Flello and Erica Phare-Bergh are both reknowned music educators based in Victoria, BC, and their workshops were a delight. Additional sectional support was provided by Derrick and Wendy Milton, Caroni Young, and Keith Ollerenshaw. Everyone, from the absolute beginners to the more experienced players, learned so much. The sound, technique, and teamwork of all our young musicians is markedly improved after this two day intensive camp. The kids worked very hard and put in long hours, but also had some fun free time and hopefully made a few new friends along the way.
Thanks to Keith for masterminding this camp, and to the instructors and parent chaperones for making it all possible. Hopefully this will become an annual event!
